 Signs of good going Breastfeeding: This review can make you learn the benefits of breastfeeding for the baby and mother and all about the sign of good going breastfeeding and the difficulties which arise during the  breastfeeding process.

Benefits of breastfeeding for the baby:

• It is always important to keep a baby warm. Early skin-to-skin contact keeps the baby warm.
• It helps in early secretion of breast milk.
• Helps mother and baby to develop a close and loving relationship.

Benefits of breastfeeding for the mother:

• Reduce the risk of excessive bleeding after birth.
• Reduce the risk of sore on Nipples or engorged and painful breast feeding (‘delayed intention of breastfeeding’ or’ no breastfeeding’ causes many internal and external problems to the mother.

When should you understand that everything is going well with your breastfeeding?

• When the mother is comfortable, confident and feels her body relaxed. She has eye contact with baby and feels pleasure in touch.
• When baby’s mouth is well attached covering most of the areola ( the black or brown natural mark around the nipple)  of the breast. Baby’s mouth opens wide and lower lips turns outwards.
• When the baby sucks well, sucks deeply and takes pauses during the feeding. Milk swallowing by the baby is seen or heard generally in normal breastfeeding.

• When the baby is calm and alert for milk sucking and stays attached.

Signs of difficulties of breastfeeding:

• When the mother is not comfortable and feels tense. She leans over body and have not much eye contact or touching. When the baby’s mouth does not open wide and cover areola part of the breast. Lips are around the nipples.
• When there is a rapid sucks, cheeks tense or sucked in smacking or clicking sounds.
• Baby is restless or crying, slips at breast; mother doesn’t feel cramping. No milk is leaking (showing that milk is not flowing).
• After feed, breast full or enlarged, nipples may be red, cracked, flat or inverted.
